Terms of sale

These are the terms on which Chapter sells mattresses and toppers to consumers in Great Britain. The delivery and returns page is a plain-English summary; where the two differ, these terms apply, and where the law gives you more, the law applies.

1. Orders

Every mattress is made to order. Your order is accepted when we confirm the build date by email or text. Prices include VAT and standard two-person delivery in our delivery area. Extras (old mattress removal, split tension, The Soft Top) are shown before payment.

2. Delivery

We deliver flat, by two people, to the room of your choice, within our stated delivery area and on a booked day. You must give safe access; if the mattress cannot be got into the room, we will discuss options with you and may charge for a second visit. Risk passes to you on delivery.

3. Cancellation (the 14-day right)

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days of delivery for any reason. Tell us in writing. We will collect the mattress for £49, deducted from your refund, and refund within 14 days of collection. We may deduct for diminished value caused by handling beyond what is needed to establish its nature and characteristics. Mattresses made to your specification (split tension, non-standard sizes) are exempt from this right, as stated before you order.

4. The 30-night swap

This is in addition to your legal rights. After 30 nights and within 60 days of delivery, if the feel is wrong, we will first offer The Soft Top at no charge and, if that does not resolve it, one swap for another mattress in the range at the difference in price, collected and delivered in one visit. The swap is per order, not per mattress. Returned mattresses are donated or recycled and never resold.

5. Guarantee

10 years from delivery against manufacturing defects in springs, foams, fillings and stitching, including a visible dip of more than 2.5 cm not caused by an unsuitable base. Excludes normal softening of comfort layers, stains, damage, misuse and use on an unsuitable base (slats over 7 cm apart, no centre rail in king and super king, broken or sagging bases). Remedy is repair or replacement at our option. This is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Faults

If a mattress is faulty on delivery, tell us within 30 days for a full refund, or at any time within the guarantee for repair or replacement.

7. Everything else

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
